Mrs. Sarah Eliza M. Moore, 96, formerly of the Bonnerton community, Aurora, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2003, at the Winslow Memorial Home, Elizabeth City.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in St. Matthew Free Will Baptist Church, Aurora, with Bishop Blake Phillips, eulogist, and the Rev. Kenneth Joyner presiding. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Moore was born in Beaufort County on June 25, 1906. She was the daughter of the late Mary M. Moore and Willie E. Moore. She attended the Beaufort County schools. On Oct. 9, 1926, she married Clyde Moore Sr., who preceded her in death on Feb. 8, 1985. She served as a 4-H club leader, was a member of Beaufort County Home Extension Club and was a member of Bonnerton Busy Bee Senior Citizen Club. She served as secretary for the North East B Division Conference, secretary-treasurer for the North East B Division Union, officer in the North East B Division Women's Home Mission and Sunday School Convention. She was a member of St. Matthew Free Will Baptist Church, Aurora where she served as a secretary and member of the Women's Home Mission.
Survivors include two daughters, Sarah Felton and Jean Sims, both of Elizabeth City; one son, Clyde Moore Jr. of Durham; four grandchildren; and 13 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one son, Joseph Moore; two sisters, Delcia Smith and Everina Moore; and two brothers, John Moore and Andrew Moore.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today at the chapel of Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington, and other times receiving friends and condolences at the home of her daughters, Sarah Felton, 511 Arbutus St., Elizabeth City, NC 27909 and Jean Sims, 101 Schwarz Kopf Drive, Elizabeth City, NC 27909.
The body will be placed in the church one hour prior to the service.
