The Rev. Roy O. Williams, 85, of Greenville, died Friday, March 7, 2003.
The funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 3:30 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
The Rev. Williams, a native of Pitt County, was the son of the late Johnnie and Nannie Williams. He lived most of his life near Greenville, and was an ordained minister for 53 years in the North Carolina Conference of The Pentecostal Holiness Church. He pastored a number of churches locally, including the Grimesland Pentecostal Holiness Church and Shelmerdine Pentecostal Holiness Church, and was currently a member of St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church. In his honor and memory, a church is to be built in Romania by Kinston First Pentecostal Holiness Church. Additionally, prior to his retirement, he owned and operated Williams Construction Company.
Surviving are his wife of 64 years, Kathleen Hardee Williams; sons, Ormond E. Williams and wife, Peggy, of Greenville, the Rev. Roy Lindsay Williams and wife, Barbara, of Raleigh, the Rev. Bobby T. Williams and wife, Anne, of Grifton, James W. Williams and wife, Tamara, of Ayden, and Terry L. Williams and wife, Carolyn, of Chocowinity; brother, Samuel J. Williams and wife, Clara, of Greenville; 13 grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
