Mrs. Alice Saunders Waters, age 89, a former resident of the Yeatesville community of Bath, N.C., died Wednesday evening, March 19, 2003, at the Sunbridge Health Care Center in Riverdale, Ga.
A funeral will be held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday, March 23, 2003, at Free Union Original Free Will Baptist Church officiated by the Rev. Luther Burns. Burial will follow in the Waters family cemetery off of Free Union Church Road. All eight grandchildren will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Waters was born in Beaufort County on May 2, 1913, daughter of the late William Ranson Saunders and the late Susan Woolard Saunders. She married Bryan B. Waters on Dec. 25, 1928, who preceded her in death on Aug. 8, 1975. She was a homemaker and a member of Free Union Original Free Will Baptist Church.
Mrs. Waters is survived by one son, Dr. William B. Waters and his wife, Gail, of Raleigh, N.C.; two daughters, Mrs. John H. "Minerva Rae" Waters of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mrs. Rev. Luther R. "Delores" Burns of Atlanta, Ga.; eight grandchildren: James R. Waters, Thomas E. Waters, Michael R. Waters, Bryan C. Waters, Lisa Rae Waters Anderson, Bryan D. Waters, Larry R. Burns and Phillip B. Burns; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Mrs. Waters was preceded in death by a son, H. Eugene Waters on Nov. 2, 1983; and two daughters, Minerva R. Waters and Brenda Sue Waters.
The family will receive friends today 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. at Paul Funeral Home of Washington.
