Mrs. Clara "Betsy" Gaskins, 49, of Askins, died Saturday, March 29, 2003, at Duke Medical Center.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Cotten Chapel with the Revs. Roy Savage and Joe Ratcliff officiating. Burial will follow in the Gaskins Family Cemetery in Askins.
Mrs. Gaskins was married to Ikie Gaskins who survives. She was a member of Kitt Swamp Christian Church where she taught Sunday School and Childrens Church for many years. She was a teacher's aid at Vanceboro Farm Life Elementary for 12 years. She enjoyed gardening and crafts.
Survivors include two sons, William Isaiah "Ike" Gaskins Jr. of Askins and Benjamin Ray Gaskins of Vanceboro; one daughter, Janet Gaskins Peaden of Askins; one brother, C.A. Boyd of Raleigh; two sisters, Ellen Deaton of Shalotte and Sylvia Gilbert of Washington; and two grandchildren.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 9 p.m. today at Cotten Funeral Home and other times at the home of Sarah Gaskins, 1155 Askins-Brick Road.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kitt Swamp Christian Church, Aurora Road, Ernul, NC 28527.
