Mr. Charles “Steve” Smith, age 45, a resident of 60 Tyler Street, Washington, NC died Thursday afternoon, April 5, 2007 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A funeral service will be held 2 p.m. Sunday, April 8, 2007 at Chocowinity Church of God officiated by Rev. Leroy Sanders and Rev. Dale Clark. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Johnny Marslender, Bill Clark, Phil Campbell, Billy Elks, Ronnie Baker and William Fizzell will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Smith was born in Pitt County on March 4, 1962, son of the late Mary Elizabeth Howell Smith and Charlie Lee Smith. He attended Pitt County Schools and was employed with G. Shavender Trucking as a truck driver until his sickness. On August 11, 1979, he married the former Shirley Campbell.
In addition to his wife, Shirley of the home, he is survived by his two children: Donnie Lee Smith and his wife, Melissa of Washington and Shannon Elaine Smith of the home; his father: Charles Lee Smith and his step-mom, Janice Smith of Washington; his brother: Eddie Lee Smith of Williamston; two step sisters: Joyce Baker of Chocowinity and Margaret Wainwright of Washington; his grandson: Daniel Lee Smith and his granddaughter: Kaylee Dawn Smith.
The family will receive friends 7-9 p.m. Saturday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home of his son, Donnie Smith located at 60 Joshua Place, Washington, NC.
Memorials in lieu of flowers may be made to the Chocowinity Church of God, Building Fund, 154 Ballard St., Chocowinity, NC 27817.
