Mr. Jesse J. Wynne, age 87, a former resident of 8889 U.S. Highway 17 North, Washington and currently of Williamston House in Williamston, passed away Wednesday, May 16, 2007 at Britthaven of Washington. .
Graveside services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, May 18, 2007 at Martin Memorial Gardens, Williamston conducted by Eddie Bowen.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Kenny Beach, Steve Gorham, Bobby Hodges, Churchill Hodges, Jimmy Hodges, Mac Hodges, Robbie Roberson, Dr. Frank Sheldon and Larry Weston.
Mr. Wynne was born in Bear Grass in Martin County on March 18, 1920. He was the son of the late Jesse J. Wynne, Sr. and Lidia Ann Mobley Wynne. Mr. Wynne operated a country store for over 44 years and farmed for over 40 years. He was a member of Christian Chapel Church of Christ and later transferred his membership to Old Ford Church of Christ.
On September 1, 1938, Mr. Wynne married the former Myrtle Grace Bowen, who preceded him in death, May 1998.
Survivors include his son, Durwood Kirby Wynne and his wife, Sandra of Washington, his daughter, Betty Wynne Rogerson of Raleigh; four grandchildren, Dirk Wynne and his wife, Melanie of Rocky Mount, Kirk Wynne and his wife, Heather of Roanoke Rapids, Anissa Ferris and her husband, Mike of Raleigh, Asa Rogerson and his wife, Alicia of Raleigh; and six great grandchildren, Ashlyn Paige Wynne, Jake Samuel Wynne, Ethan Ferris, A.J. Rogerson, Skylar Rogerson, and Brody Rogerson.
In addition to his parents and his wife, Mr. Wynne was preceded in death by his son in law, Bennie Rogerson; five brothers, and four sisters.
The family will receive friends from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Friday at Paul Funeral Home in Washington and other times at the home of his son, Kirby Wynne, 8317 U.S. Highway 17 North, Washington.
