Onward R. Jackson

Mr. Onward Rudolph Jackson, age 81, a resident of 4807 Long Ridge Road, Pinetown, died Friday, June 1, 2007 at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, June 4, 2007 at the Pinetown Church of Christ, conducted by Kent Gurganus. Burial will follow in Jackson Family Cemetery, Long Ridge Road, Pinetown.
The following will serve as pallbearers: Mickey Dickinson, Ricky Dickinson, Ronnie Jackson, Gary Jackson, Ray Norman and Timmy Woolard.
Mr. Jackson was born on Long Ridge Road in Beaufort County on April 9, 1926. He was the son of the late Johnnie Clyde Jackson and Arcada Alligood Jackson. Mr. Jackson graduated from Bath High School. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II. Mr. Jackson retired from National Spinning as a steam box operator with 38 years of service. He was a member of the Pinetown Church of Christ. Mr. Jackson loved to build toy trains.
On November 12, 1948, Mr. Jackson married the former Doris Gray Lamb, who survives.
Surviving with his wife are three children, Johnnie Jackson and his wife, Marie of Washington, Marianna Woolard and her husband, Bobby T. Woolard of Pinetown, Raymond Jackson and his wife, Christine of Washington; two sisters, Katherine Hillman of Roanoke, VA, Katie Harris of Washington; four grandchildren, and one great grandchild.
Mr. Jackson was preceded in death by five brothers, Harold, Jason, James, Garland, and Marvin Jackson.
The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church Monday and other times at the home, 4807 Long Ridge Road, Pinetown.
