Mr. William “Doug” Cahoon, 63, of Columbia, died Thursday, June 7, 2007, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital, Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 4 p.m. Sunday in the Assembly of Praise with the Rev. Elmo “Popeye” Daniels officiating. Burial will follow in Azalea Memorial Gardens Cemetery, Columbia.
Mr. Cahoon was born in Tyrrell County on July 25, 1943. He was the son of the late Ernest and Alice Cahoon Smith. He served in the Navy aboard the USS Enterprise. He worked as a truck driver for Captain Neill’s Seafood Co.
Survivors include two daughters, Dana Cahoon and Neely Cahoon of Florida; four brothers, Lawrence “Larry” Smith, Vance Smith, Chris Smith and Wade Smith and one grandchild.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Gene Smith.
The family will receive friends today from 7-9 p.m. at Assembly of Praise, Columbia, and other times at the home of his brother, Wade Smith in Columbia.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to help with funeral costs.
