VANCEBORO — Mrs. Johnnie Ann Holliday Elks, 69, died Wednesday, June 20, 2007 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
The funeral service will be conducted on Saturday 4 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel in Vanceboro. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Elks spent her youth on a farm in Martin County, having spent most of her adult life in Craven County, residing in the Vanceboro community. For a number of years she was employed with Metts Garments in New Bern as a seamstress. Mrs. Elks was a member of Harvest Temple Church of God, and had a special love for preparing meals for others.
Mrs. Elks was preceded in death by her parents, John and Carrie Holliday, her husband, Horace Ray “Pappy” Elks, brother, Milford Holliday, two sisters, Sybil King, and Magalene Wilson.
She is survived by: five sons, Johnny Ray Elks Sr. and wife, Tabitha of Vanceboro, Michael Wayne Elks and wife, Tammy of Vanceboro, Timothy Arnold Elks and wife, Angelia of Potts Camp, Mississippi, Bobby Gene Elks of Vanceboro, and Edward Thomas Elks and wife, Michele of New Bern; two daughters, Angelia Elks Taylor and, Bryan of Chocowinity, Pamela Elks Meeks and husband, Ernie of Stokes; three brothers, Tony Holliday and wife, Mary of Williamston, Tom Holliday and wife, Judy of Bear Grass, and Martin “Buddy” Holliday and wife, Carolyn of Richmond, VA; five sisters, Faye McLawhorn of Bethel, Maysel Brown and husband, Nick of Richmond, VA, Lorraine Cary and husband, Freddie of Chesapeake, VA, Judy Styons and husband, Abram of Plymouth, and Pat Davis and husband, Howard of Stokes; 27 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends Friday 7-9 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home in Vanceboro.
