Damien Wilkins will see just how much his campers have improved when he plays against some of them during today’s all-star game.
Wilkins, a Washington native and NBA star with the Seattle SuperSonics, will cap off his first “Damien Wilkins Basketball Camp” with three all-star games at Washington High School. Action gets started at 11 a.m.
Girls from the first and second sessions will combine for the first all-star game. A boys’ all-star game comprised of the top campers from the first session will follow. It will be capped with the second-session boys’ all-stars against Wilkins and his teammates.
Wilkins wouldn’t divulge the names of his teammates.
Wilkins said he definitely saw improvement in several campers on Thursday.
Campers, who received gray t-shirts on the first day of camp, were given white t-shirts Thursday.
Samantha Smith, a rising senior at Washington High School, said she’s learned plenty during the camp.
The Pam Pack hoop player said she’ll be able to apply her new skills to the court next year.
The camp, sponsored by Adidas, has been free of charge to the campers.
Smith said she’s grateful for Wilkins returning home to run the camp.
Smith was chosen by Wilkins and his assistants as one of the all-stars.
