Wallace Stockton of 20539 U. S. Highway 264, Swan Quarter, died Monday, June 25, 2007, at Pungo District Hospital in Belhaven.
Born in Garner, N. C., he was the son of the late Eulan and Jessmer Stancil Stockton. He graduated from Garner High School in 1955, served in the U.S. Army 1956-1959, worked as an agent with Alcohol Law Enforcement and later taught mechanics in Jacksonville and Fayetteville. In 1974, he worked for a brief period with the former Anchors Aweigh Marine Sales in Garner and then opened his own business for outboard motor repair and boat sales. He was an avid outdoorsman and moved to Hyde County in 1986 where he enjoyed retirement.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at Swan Quarter Christian Church. Steve Bryan, Ralph Jarvis and Edward W. (Bunk) Carawan will officiate.
Burial will be in the family plot at New Bethel Baptist Church at Garner.
Surviving are his wife, Laura Stephenson Stockton; a son, Jackson W. Stockton and his wife, Dedra of Chapel Hill; two grandchildren, Josh Stockton and Jessi Stockton; two very special cousins, Bobby Powell of Scotland Neck and Fletcher Powell of Atlantic Beach.
