Kathleen Boyd Woolard Alligood

Kathleen Boyd Woolard Alligood, 88, of Washington, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and widow of George Woolard and Etheridge Alligood, went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family, on Tuesday, August 14, 2007 at Britthaven of Washington. She was born to the late John Richard and Martha Elizabeth Woolard Boyd on August 16, 1918. Kathleen spent most of her life as a resident of Slatestone Road and more recently of The Village and Britthaven Nursing Home. Her family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the staff of Britthaven for their care and compassion over the last several months.
Kathleen is survived by two sons, Bobby Dale and Danny Ray Woolard; one daughter, Anna Kay Whitley and husband, Mitchell, all of Washington; one stepson, Neil C. Alligood; one stepdaughter, Sonja Alligood Tuning; grandsons, Shane (Kara), Stephen (Debbie), Stewart (Anna) Whitley; granddaughter, Lisa Woolard Narron (Brad); great-grandsons, Bradley and Jesse Narron; Courtland and Micah Whitley, and great-granddaughters, Katie Narron and Josie Keech and one sister, Helen Alligood. She was also predeceased by two grandchildren, Mitchell, Jr. and Angela Whitley, sisters Ruby Alligood Warren and Eula Congleton White and brothers, Joyner, Alton, Elon and infant William Boyd.
Kathleen was strongly devoted to God and her family. She graduated from Bath High School in 1937. She was a lifelong member of Rosemary Church of Christ and the Rosemary Ladies Aid. She dearly loved to cook, crochet, embroider, garden and read and was a member of CBH Lodge and DAV, serving as an officer, as long as health permitted.
The family will receive friends from 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday at Paul Funeral Home and at other times at the home of her daughter and son-in-law, Anna Kay and Mitchell Whitley, 3945 Slatestone Road, Washington. Funeral services will be conducted by Marty Alligood and Mike Caton at Rosemary Church of Christ, Slatestone Road, Washington, at 2 p.m., Friday, August 17, 2007, with interment in Pamlico Memorial Gardens. Her grandsons Shane, Stephen and Stewart Whitley; Brad Narron; and nephews Colton Boyd, Dallas Congleton, Mitchell Warren and Wiley M. Woolard will serve as pallbearers. The elders and deacons of Rosemary Church of Christ will serve as honorary pallbearers.
