Angelo Sharpless stands tall on the sideline, stands tall on the field and stood out against the competition in Plymouth’s 44-0 rout of Jamesville friday night.
The 6-foot-4, 187-pound wide receiver/free safety recovered a fumble on the first play from scrimmage, and caught a touchdown pass on the next.
Sharpless caught a 30-yard touchdown pass later in the first quarter, a quarter that was dominated by Plymouth.
The talented two-way star ended the game with 168 total yards and two touchdowns despite playing in only a little over a quarter on offense. He also had a 49-yard touchdown reception in the fourth quarter, but it was negated by an illegal block penalty.
Senior running back Tobias Clagon led the way on the ground for the Vikings. Clagon carried the ball six times for 199 yards and two touchdowns, and like Sharpless, had an additional touchdown called back for a penalty.
White said that ‘it’s great’ to have three seniors as talented as Sharpless, Clagon and quarterback Dasheen Perry leading the Plymouth offense this season.
Despite the 492 yards and 44 points that Plymouth provided on offense, White was quick to point out the great job his defense did friday night.
Jamesivlle managed only one first down, 16 total yards and was forced to punt eight times.
Plymouth held a 36-0 lead at halftime, which caused the referees to decide to run a continous clock the entire second half.
With the clock running continously, Jamesville only had one possesion in the second frame, and Plymouth only had two.
Plymouth had three touchdowns in a row called back because of penalties in the fourth quarter, something that White believes was because of a lost of focus.
