Mr. Vance Whitfield, 83, of Robersonville, died Saturday, Aug. 25, 2007 at his home.
A funeral service will be held Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Hamilton Cemetery with Warren Grubbs officiating.
Mr. Whitfield was born May 15, 1924 in Martin County. He was the son of the late Charlie Whitfield and the late Mary Scott. He was a retired logger and a member of Hamilton Church of Christ.
Survivors include four daughters, Joann Roberson of Suffolk, Va., Mary Brownfield of Hamilton, Vanessa Mullis of Pollocksville and Rhonda Joyner of Tarboro; one son, Tony Whitfield of Grantsboro; one sister, Beatrice Comstock of Oak City; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 7 p.m. until 8:30 p.m. at Biggs Funeral Home of Williamston and other times at the residence.
