Mrs. Margaret Pauline Swain Underwood, 67, of 3761 Backwoods Road, Roper, died Friday, Sept. 14, 2007, at home.
A funeral will be conducted today at 1 p.m. in Greater Victory Temple Church, Roper, with Elder Robert G. Mallory officiating. Burial will follow in Spruill Eternal Rest Cemetery, Plymouth.
Mrs. Underwood was born in Washington County on Jan. 17, 1940. She was the daughter of the late Jasper Swain Sr. and Benita Chesson. She was married to Joseph Underwood Sr., who preceded her in death. She had worked in the housekeeping department of Plumblee Nursing Center, Plymouth. She was a member of Greater Victory Temple Church, Roper.
Survivors include one daughter, Juanita Underwood Washington of Roper; three sons, Joseph Underwood, Raymond Underwood and Stevie Underwood, all of Roper; six grandchildren; three sisters, Laura Davidson of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Lena Lee Myers and Lisa Ann Titus, both of Roper; and two brothers, Jaspers Swain and Willie Swain, both of Roper.
She was preceded in death by two brothers, Russell Swain and James E. Swain.
Arrangements are by Puckett-Purkett Funeral Service, Roper.
