TARBORO — Ms. Casandra Drake, 64, passed away Wednesday, October 3, 2007.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 4 p.m. in Wilkerson Funeral Chapel.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 2 -4 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
Casandra L. Drake was born on May 19, 1943 in Montgomery, Alabama. In her youth, Casandra found her love of the dramatic arts. In the 1960’s, while a student at what was then East Carolina College, she appeared in several major stage productions and spent summers headlining in various outdoor dramas. Along with her love for the dramatic arts, Casandra loved to write and was a published author.
In addition to her artistic talents she also had a very fulfilling professional career, where she was mentor to many as an inspiring coach to all who walked through her office door. Her many gifts were apparent, enjoyed by all who knew her. She was extraordinarily intuitive with a peaceful spirit, calming many who were lucky enough to pass her path. In the end Casandra died on her own terms, in accordance with how she lived her life — firmly believing in the power of positive thinking and radiating creative, life affirming energy that was a perfect example of her convictions. She was a role model to her friends, family, and the countless many whose lives she touched. This valiant warrior is now a guardian angel to all of us. She will forever be remembered, living in our hearts. “Dear girl, you fought the valiant fight, now you can take care and go gentle into that good night.”
Casandra is survived by her: loving partner of 30 years, Jane Rosario; brothers, Lee, Ray, and Tommy Drake; sister, Carolyn; three nephews and a niece she loved dearly; and many, many close friends.
Following the service friends and family may visit at Jane and Casandra’s home.
In lieu of flowers, please send donations to The American Cancer Society.
