Carl Jeffrey Harris, 64, of 55 Goshen Road, Engelhard, died on Saturday, October 6, 2007, at his home.
Born in Engelhard, October 16, 1942, he was the son of Elma Gray Harris and the late Carl Cahoon Harris. He spent his working life in marine construction and developed many projects in Hyde County. He was a member of the Engelhard Christian Church.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at the family plot in Fulford Cemetery. Scott Sukeforth and James S. Jones will officiate.
Surviving in addition to his mother, who presently resides at Cross Creek Health Care Center in Swan Quarter, are a son, Jeffrey Karl Harris of Chesapeake, VA.; a daughter, Tonya M. Lee and her fianc/, Benjamin Waid of Dunn, NC; a brother, Donald Harris of Engelhard; two sisters, Dianne H. Pugh and Tammy H. Sadler, both of Engelhard; his longtime companion, Donna Nifong of Fairfield; grandchildren, Sarah Harris, Michael Harris, Morgan Lee, Maddie Lee, Macie Waid.
Jeff was also preceded in death by a brother, James F. Harris.
The family will receive friends at Bryan Funeral Service on Monday evening, 6 p.m. to 8 p.m., and at other times at the home of Dianne and Earl Pugh, 32 Nebraska Road, in the Middletown community.
