Mrs. Billie Jean Hayes Rich, age 75, a resident of 448 East Bayside Drive, Chocowinity, N.C. died at her home on Wednesday, November 14, 2007.
Mrs. Rich was born on December 30, 1931, in Beaufort County, the daughter of the late Allison Benjamin Hayes and Lena Mixon Hayes.
Mrs. Rich graduated from Aurora High School. She later moved to Texas where she worked with Rockwell International. Mrs. Rich was employed for 25 years retiring in 1985. Upon retirement she and her husband Ray returned to Beaufort County. She loved, and was loved by, her many friends and neighbors at Bayside Shores.
She is survived by a daughter, Lynn Clayton and husband Danny of Belhaven and one son James T. Hudson and wife Cheri of Richardson, Texas. Two brothers, Heber Hayes of Aurora, N.C. and A.B. Hayes of Virginia Beach, Va.; three sisters, Ruth Edwards of Washington, N.C., Ruby Bell of Morehead City, N.C. and Margaret Jernigan of Chapel Hill, N.C.; six grandchildren, Nicole Clayton Prince and husband Ruffin, Matthew Hudson, Michelle Hudson, Lisa Hudson, Amanda Hudson and Nathan Hudson and one great-grandchild, Madison Prince.
The family requests memorials be made to University Hospice, #5 Doctor’s Park, Greenville, NC 27834.
The family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Lynn Clayton at 691 Foreman Lane, Belhaven, N.C.
There will be a private memorial service at a later date.
