George Tilman Spencer

Mr. George Tilman Spencer, age 80, a resident of 1408 Hoff Road, Belhaven died Thursday, November 15, 2007 at his home.
A memorial service will be held 2 p.m. on Sunday November 18, 2007 at Pantego Christian Church in Pantego officiated by Rev. James Bussell.
Mr. Spencer was born in Beaufort County on February 13, 1927 to the late Harold Tilman Spencer and the late Myrtie Gertrude Martin Spencer. On November 16, 1954 George married Rae Gaskins who survives. Mr. Spencer served his country in the United States Navy during World War II. After his discharge, he later worked for many years as a farmer. Mr. Spencer was a member of Pantego Christian Church and was a friend of “Dr. Bob” and Bill Wilson.
In addition to his wife, survivors include three sons: Robert H. Spencer of St. Joseph, Missouri, Hoyt T. Spencer of the home, “Tim” R. Spencer and his wife Sissy of Bath; one granddaughter: Alicia Spencer Wagaman and her husband Willie of Washington; one grandson: Nathan H. Spencer of Greenville; and two great granddaughters: Kayla Wagaman, Jordan Wagaman. In addition to his parents, Mr. Spencer was preceded in death by three brothers: Gene Richard Spencer, Clyde Bonner Spencer, Fredrick H. Spencer, and one sister: Susan Spencer Collins.
The family will receive friends following the memorial service at the church.
