GREENVILLE — It’s not official, but maybe it’s time to break out the swimming trunks.
Though nothing is set in stone, the East Carolina Pirates may be headed to the Hawaii Bowl on Dec. 23. The official statement will likely be released early next week.
Regardless, ECU third-year coach Skip Holtz is happy that his team is bowl-bound for the second straight year.
Quarterback Rob Kass, who threw for 177 yards and three scores in ECU’s 35-12 win over Tulane on Saturday, said he’ll be happy to play anywhere.
Senior running back Chris Johnson, who accounted for 240 total yards and three scores, is glad his season didn’t end Saturday.
Senior defensive lineman Mark Robinson was all smiles when he spoke about getting to play one final game with his teammates.
The Pirates suffered a 24-7 loss to South Florida in last year’s Papajohns.com Bowl. Holtz is hoping for more this time out.
C.J. Wilson, a sophomore defensive end and former standout at Northside High School, said the team will head to the bowl game with a purpose.
