Vergia Mae B. Carter, 73, of Tyrrell County, died Thursday, Dec. 6, 2007, at Washington County Hospital in Plymouth.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. today, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Columbia with the Rev. Kennedy Barber officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include one son, Alvin Carter of High Point; four brothers, Leon Basnight, Herman Basnight and Arnold Basnight, all of Columbia, and Ervin Basnight of New York; four sisters, Lou Bethea, Della Basnight and Mary Bowser, all of Columbia, and Jean Wiltshire of New York; and two grandchildren.
Mrs. Carter was born May 16, 1934. She was a laboratory technician at Space-Craft.
Mrs. Carter was preceded in death by her husband; her mother, Eva Brown; and her father, William Basnight.
Arrangements are by Rowsom Funeral Home in Columbia.
