Mr. Abner Eli Basnight, 91, of 3296 N. Gum Neck Road, Columbia, died Wed., Dec. 19, 2007, at Chowan Hospital in Edenton.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Sunday in Piney Grove Church of Christ with the Rev. Lorenza Moore officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mr. Basnight was born in Tyrrell County on Oct. 5, 1916. He was the son of the late Haywood and Brittie B. Basnight. He had been employed as a logger.
Survivors include two daughters, Pearl Rice of Roper and Viola Heath of Michigan; one brother, Booker T. Basnight of Columbia; one sister, Selma Basnight of Columbia; 15 grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren and four great-great-grandchildren.
Arrangements are by Rowsom Funeral Home, Columbia.
