Mr. James Russell Edmondson, 82, died Friday, Dec. 21, 2007, at Plumblee Nursing Home in Plymouth.
Funeral services will be held at 3 p.m. today at Biggs Memorial Chapel with the Rev. James Dixon officiating. Burial will follow in Woodlawn Cemetery.
Mr. Edmondson was born April 28, 1925, in Martin County, son of the late Luther Edmondson and Mamie McKeel Edmondson. He was married Dec. 14, 1946 to Hilda Mae Wynn who preceded him in death on April 18, 1986. He was later married to Doris Wynn Taylor who preceded him in death on Jan. 19, 2003. He was a retired farmer and a veteran of World War II. He was a member of Cedar Grove Free Will Baptist Church and a member of American Legion Post 131 in Hamilton.
Survivors include one daughter, Kathryn Marian of Plains, Pa.; two sons, Hilton Edmondson and Wayne Edmondson, both of Williamston; two sisters, Martha Howell and Gloria Peele, both of Williamston; four brothers, Harold Edmondson and Julius Edmondson, both of Hamilton, Billy Edmondson and Bobby Edmondson, both of Williamston and Mack Edmondson of Everetts; five grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Louise Edmondson and Sudie Revels and one grandchild.
The family will receive friends today from 1:30 p.m. until 3 p.m. and other times at the home of Hilton and Tammy Edmondson, 1202 Log Cabin Road, Williamston.
