Mr. James A. Acklin Sr., 56, of 255 Elks Trailer Park, Chocowinity, died Sunday, Jan. 6, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the Temple of Jesus Christ Church United with Bishop James Woolard officiating and Elder William Acklin, eulogist. Burial will follow in Cedar Hill Cemetery, Washington.
Mr. Acklin was born Feb. 11, 1952, the son of Lillie Dennis Acklin and the late Robert W. Acklin Sr. He attended Chocowinity High School and later earned a GED. In 1996, he married Bessie James, who survives. He was formerly employed by Britthaven Nursing Home, Washington.
Survivors include three daughters, Tammy Acklin of West Palm Beach, Fla., Alberta Acklin of Greenville and Jennifer Gibbs of Washington; two sons, James A. Acklin Jr. of Greenville and William Andrews of Chocowinity; one brother, William Acklin of Greenville; two sisters, Catherine Wooten and Martha Acklin, both of Chocowinity and eight grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by two brothers, Robert Acklin Jr. and Herman L. Acklin and one sister, Mary Carter.
The family will receive friends at the home of his brother, William Acklin, 1268 Twisting Creek, Pactolus community, Greenville.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
