Mrs. Olive Stroud Koonce, 81, formerly of 907 Brentwood Drive, Kinston, died Monday, Jan. 14, 2008, at the home of her daughter, Debbie Koonce Minyard, 3732 Drew Farmer Road in LaGrange.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Friday in Tabernacle Free Will Baptist Church with the Revs. Jim Maddox and Ken Cash officiating. Burial will follow in Pinelawn Memorial Park.
Mrs. Koonce was the daughter of the late Owen Jobe and Cora Hill Stroud. She was married to Otis Worth “Pete” Koonce, who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker and caregiver. She taught Sunday school for more than 40 years and most recently was a member of Tabernacle Free Will Baptist Church.
Survivors include two daughters, Diane Koonce Rucienski of Washington and Debbie Koonce Minyard of LaGrange; one sister, Elizabeth Lamb of Wilson; seven grandchildren; nine great-grandchildren; two stepgrandchildren and three stepgreat-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Margaret Garvey and Maybelle Smith and three brothers, L.C. Stroud, Buddy Stroud and Emmett Stroud.
The family will receive friends Thursday from 7-9 p.m. at Garner Funeral Home, Kinston, and other times at the home of her daughter, Debbie Koonce Minyard in LaGrange.
