Doris Warren Joyner, age 79, a resident of 107 W. Second Street, Robersonville, NC went to be with her Lord, Saturday February 2, 2008 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday February 6, 2008 at Hickory Grove FWB Church officiated by Rev. Doug Tyson and Rev. James Green. Burial will follow in Bethel Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Joey Williams, Edward Warren, Timmy Warren, Austin Brooks, A.J. Wilson and Gerald Wilson.
Mrs. Joyner, a retired elementary school teacher, was a long time resident of Robersonville, the beloved little community in which she loved and was born in on December 14, 1928. She was the daughter of the late Lafayette “Lalie” Warren and the late Dessie Jane Whitehurst Warren. She was a beautiful woman who genuinely loved her Lord, her family and her friends. She was especially fond of life’s simple pleasures with her children, grandchild and her extended family and friends. She also loved her music, as she was a talented pianist who played thirty years for Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church, which she was a member of.
Mrs. Joyner is survived by a daughter: Janie Brooks and her husband Norman of Bath; a son: Michael Joyner of Robersonville; three grandchildren: Taylor Stubbs-Brooks, Austin Brooks and Alexa Brooks Asby and her husband Josh; the father of Mrs. Joyner’s children and life long friend Ralph Joyner of Calypso; two sisters: Shirley Williams and her husband Joseph of Robersonville and Betty Jean Wilson and her husband Willis of Winterville; four brothers: Garland Warren of Williamston, Dennis Warren of Greenville, Calvin Warren and his wife Mary Frances of Williamston, Aubrey Warren and his wife Jean of Temple, AZ and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Mrs. Joyner was preceded in death by a son: Tony Warren Joyner and a brother: Travis Warren.
The family will receive friends 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday February 5, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home of Mrs. Joyner’s sister and brother-in-law: Shirley and Joseph Williams located at 205 West Purvis Street, Robersonville, NC.
In lieu of flowers the family kindly asks that memorial contributions be made to the Taylor Stubbs college Trust, 1422 East Carolina Bank 1422 Carolina Ave. Washington, NC 27889 or to Hickory Grove Free Will Baptist Church, 5778 NC Hwy. 30 Robersonville, NC 27871.
