Mr. Everett Sutton White, 86, of 2140 N.C. Highway 45 North, Colerain, died Thursday, Feb. 14, 2008, at the Vintage Inn in Williamston.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday in Bethany Baptist Church with the Rev. Tommy Tripp officiating. Burial with military honors will follow in Highland Memorial Gardens, Ahoskie.
Mr. White was born in Bertie County on March 18, 1921. He was the son of the late Oscar Sutton and Amanda Perry White. He was an Army Air Corps veteran of World War II, where he served as a belly gunner in a B-17. He was married to Evelyn Evans White, who preceded him in death. He graduated from N.C. State University in 1942. He was a farmer and a retired agriculture teacher in Chowan County. He was a founding member of Small Cross Road Fire Department, and a member of the Lions Club, Ruritan Club and Spruills Pasture Hunt Club. He was a member of Bethany Baptist Church and former member of Ballads Bridge Baptist Church.
Survivors include one son, Richard Sutton White of Colerain; two sisters, Katherine W. Brown of Virginia Beach, Va., and Mary “Peepsie” Miller of Perrytown; two grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one brother, Billy Gray White.
The family will receive friends Saturday from 10-11 a.m. in the fellowship hall of Bethany Baptist Church.
