Mr. James Henry Stalls, 77, of 852 Big Oak Road, Bethel, died Monday, Feb. 18, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Sweet Home Church of Christ, Williamston, with pastor Ward Sullivan officiating. Burial will follow in Martin Memorial Gardens.
Mr. Stalls was born in Martin County on Sept. 20, 1930. He was the son of the late Romus Haywood Stalls and Ethel Mae Whitley Stalls. He was married to Iris “Jean” Meeks Stalls, who survives. He worked as a mechanic with M.O. Blount in Bethel and Everett Matthews in Hamilton until his retirement.
Survivors include two daughters, Dorothy Jean Leggett and Shelia Faye Lee, both of Bear Grass; five sons, Jimmy Dean Edwards and Danny Ray Stalls, both of Bethel, James Haywood Stalls and James Henry Stalls Jr., both of Gold Point, and Kenneth Earl Stalls of Tennessee; two brothers, Bobby Stalls of Rocky Mount and Dillon Stalls of Pinetops; four sisters, Mary Elizabeth Manning of Oak City, Peggy Marie Stalls of Tarboro, Virginia Sawyer of South Carolina and Evelyn Gray Boyd of Robersonville; 16 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends today from 7-8:30 p.m. at Sweet Home Church of Christ, 1430 Sweet Home Road, Williamston, and other times at the home.
