Mrs. Marjorie Meekins Hollowell, age 80, a resident of 461 Maules Point Road, Blounts Creek, NC died Friday, February 22, 2008 at her home.
A funeral will be held 2 p.m. Sunday February 24, 2008 at Smyrna Free Will Baptist Church officiated by Rev. Joel Cannon. Entombment will follow in Oakdale Cemetery.
Mrs. Hollowell was born in Beaufort County on January 24, 1928. She attended Bath High School. Mrs. Hollowell married Benjamin Byrd Hollowell on August 30, 1958 who preceded her in death on August 7, 2007. She was a homemaker, an active member of Smyrna Free Will Baptist Church where she was a member of its ladies auxiliary, and the adult Sunday school class.
Survivors include two daughters: June Bushhousen and her husband Jerome of Blounts Creek and Dianna Dobyns and her husband Joe of Greenville; three sons: Dana Hollowell of Blounts Creek, Ben Hollowell and his wife Dixie of Chocowinity and Ricky Hollowell and his wife Jo of Blounts Creek; one brother: Frank Green of Pittsboro, NC; nine grandchildren and ten great grandchildren. Mrs. Hollowell was preceded in death by her birth mother: Elva Becker Lambert; her adopted father: Steve Meekins; her adoptive mother: Nancy Shepherd Meekins; a brother: Brownie Meekins and four sisters: Martha Hamilton, Leona Jefferson, Blanche Woolard and Abera Silverthorne.
The family will receive friends from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. Sunday at Smyrna Free Will Baptist Church and at other times at the home.
