Terrance Copper’s off-season just got a whole lot sweeter.
Copper, a free agent, signed a deal to stick around with the New Orleans Saints. The wide receiver/special teams ace inked a two-year, $2.75 million contract.
The former Washington Pam Pack and East Carolina University star, who turns 26 next month, said re-signing with the Saints alleviated some pressure.
Copper, who has 46 receptions for 600 yards and six touchdowns in his career, will begin his fifth NFL season this year. After signing with the Dallas Cowboys as a free agent, he played with the Cowboys for two years where he finished with eight catches for 89 yards and a touchdown.
The 6-0, 207-pound receiver played the last two years with the Saints. Copper had 38 receptions for 511 yards and five touchdowns in that time, including 15 catches for 156 yards and two scores last season.
He also has 24 kickoff returns for 467 yards (19.5 average) in his career.
Copper also has 37 special teams tackles.
Now that the husband and father of a boy and girl has signed the deal, he can relax and enjoy his off-season even more.
The off-season has also allowed Copper to recover from an injured finger. He had surgery on the finger last month.
Copper, who is doing some light lifting and heavy conditioning to stay in shape, reports to the team at the end of March for lifting and running.
The Saints will gather at the end of July for training camp.
Copper is already anxious to play again.
