Mrs. Marie Tyer Patrick, age 82, a resident of 1403 Nicholson Street, Washington, NC died Wednesday March 12, 2008 at Britthaven Nursing Home of Washington.
A funeral will be held 11 a.m. Friday March 14, 2008 at First United Methodist Church of Washington officiated by Rev. Danny Allen. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Ronnie Toler, Jesse Whitley, Brad Toler, Hank Tice, Bill Long, Kent Berry, Justin Godley and R. Brandon Toler will serve as pallbearers.
Mrs. Patrick was born in the Chicod community of Pitt County on April 1, 1925 daughter of the late Henry Webster Tyer and the late Maud Cox Tyer. She was a graduate of Pitt County Schools. Mrs. Patrick married William Aydlette Patrick on December 14, 1946 who preceded her in death on April 12, 1993. She worked with Western Union as a telecommunicator in the former railroad depot in Washington. Later Mrs. Patrick worked with the Bank of Washington as a commercial loan processor until her first retirement, at which time she continued to work with Bank of America as a teller. She was a member of the First United Methodist Church where she was very active and served as treasurer of the Louise Fisher Circle.
Survivors include two daughters: Ann P. Toler and her husband Ronald A. of Richmond and B.J. Whitley and her husband Jesse P. of Robersonville; three sisters: Susie T. Dupree of New Bern, Judy T. Long of Apex and Jane T. Thiel of Ayden; a brother: Woodrow Tyer of Washington; four grandchildren: Bradley N. Toler, Jamie W. Tice, Lauren Ashley Patrick and William Andrew Patrick; three step grandchildren: R. Brandon Toler, Stacie Lynn Whitley and Morgan Irene Whitley; four great grandchildren: Jackson Bradley Toler, Carmon Grace Toler, Charlotte Ann Toler and Kirkland Champ Tice and two step great grandchildren: Troy Nathaniel Toler and Whitney Lynn Toler. Mrs. Patrick was preceded in death by a brother: Webster Harold “Buddy” Tyer and a sister: Lucille Tyer.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday March 13, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at Mrs. Patrick’s home.
