BURLINGTON — George F. Chauncey, 89, of 3004 Blanche Dr. went home to be with the Lord Thursday, May 8, 2008, at his residence after two years of failing health and two weeks of critical illness. Mr. Chauncey was born February 16, 1919 in Little Washington, NC to the late William Mack and Fannie Mae Chauncey. He was the husband of the late Darothy Isley Chauncey who preceded him in 1998 and Mrs. Annie Everette Chauncey who survives. George retired from East Burlington Waste Treatment Plant and was of the Nazarene faith. He was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He loved his family and this love was returned to him. He was loved and greatly missed.
Survivors other than his wife include two daughters, Judy Dickey and Annette Dickey and her husband Kenny both of Burlington; four step children, Carol Hartman and her husband John, Rita Bradley and her husband Cecil, Steve Everette, and Larry Everette all of Washington, NC; four grandchildren, James Donald Dickey, George Travis Dickey, Ginger D. Murphy, and Kevin Dickey; and ten great- grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a twin brother, Johnny Chauncey.
A funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Monday, May 12, 2008, at Lowe Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. John Shields. Interment will follow at Alamance Memorial Park. The family will receive friends 4-6 p.m. Sunday evening at Lowe Funeral Home and Crematory and at other times the family will be at the home of Annette Dickey, 2932 Blanche Dr.
