Mrs. Matilda Guion Foskey Jenkins, 94, of 117 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, Washington, died Saturday, May 10, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 11 a.m. Thursday in Freemount Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Chester Pettiway officiating. Burial will follow in the Foskey cemetery in Chocowinity.
Mrs. Jenkins was born in Beaufort County on Oct. 8, 1913. She was the daughter of the late Alex and Clara C. Guion. She attended the Beaufort County Schools. She was employed with Beaufort County Hospital in the laundry department prior to her retirement. She was the oldest member of Freemount Free Will Baptist Church, where she served on the Mother Board.
Survivors include one son, Larry Foskey of Washington; one daughter, Edna Tyner of Washington; one step daughter, Daisy J. Howard of New York; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren.
A walk-in visitation will be held today from 1-7 p.m. at Whitfield and Whitley Funeral Home, Washington.
The family will receive friends at the home.
The body will be taken to the church one hour prior to the service.
