Mr. Joel N. Davenport, 89, of Fruita, Colo., died Thursday, April 24, 2008, in Fruita, Colo.
A memorial service was held April 30, 2008, in Callahan-Edfast Mortuary Chapel.
Mr. Davenport was born May 7, 1918 in Scuppernong. He was the son of the late Redden W. and Alice M. Phelps Davenport. He served in the Army during World War II in the European Theatre in Germany. He was married to Lena M. Boita Davenport, who survives. He had lived and worked in Sunnyside, Utah, and Price, Utah, before moving to Fruita, Colo.
Survivors include one son, Lindy A. Davenport; two brothers, Lemmie Davenport of Scranton and David Davenport of Shreveport, La.; one sister, Levora Whittie of California; three grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren.
