Mrs. Laura Jean Poole Cox, 53, of 245 S. Fifth St., Aurora, died Saturday, May 24, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A graveside memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the South Creek Missionary Baptist Church cemetery in Aurora, with the Rev. Phillip Lewis officiating.
Mrs. Cox was born in Nov. 3, 1954, in Norfolk, Va. Her parents were the late Joseph and Mildred Smith Poole. She was a former credit manager with Helig-Myers Furniture Store in Aurora. Recently, she worked with Moen Company in New Bern, until her health forced her to retire. Mrs. Cox married Carroll Glenn Cox on Jan. 25, 1995. She was a former emergency medical technician with the Aurora Volunteer Rescue Squad and was a member of the Catholic Church.
Survivors in addition to her husband include three sons, Johnny Williams of Minnesota, Scottie Williams of Virginia and Brian Williams of Kentucky; two sisters, Nancy “Katy” Myers of Florida and Linda Matthews of Virginia; a brother, David Poole of Virginia; and six grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of Terry Cox, 50 Vinegar Hill Road, Aurora.
In lieu of flowers the family asks that memorial contributions be made to Aurora Volunteer Rescue Squad, P.O. Box 802, Aurora, NC 27806.
