Mrs. E. Faye Cates Cayton, 69, of Greenville, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday in Oakmont Baptist Church. Entombment will follow in the mausoleum at Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Cayton was the daughter of the late Emma Allen and Henry Cates. She was a 1957 graduate of Chicod High School, where she earned all-state honors in basketball. She was married to Henry Wade Cayton Sr., who survives. Following her high school graduation, she worked for the Federal Bureau of Investigation in Washington, D.C. In 1960, she began a career as a medical practice manager with Quadrangle Internal Medicine retiring in 2002 from Physician’s East in Farmville after 42 years of service. She was a member of Oakmont Baptist Church, where she served in the nursery and was one of the founding members of the Pathfinder’s Sunday school class.
Survivors include one daughter, Tammy Cayton Jones of Greenville; one son, Chip Cayton of Winterville; three grandchildren and one sister, Margie Case of Greenville.
She was preceded in death by one sister, Betty Jordan and five brothers, Elbert, Carlton, Earl, L.H. and Luther Cates.
The family will receive friends today from 6-8 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home, Greenville, and other times at the home.
