Mrs. Ida Murray Elliott Banks, 73, a resident of Britthaven of Washington and formerly of 1352 Swamp Road, Pantego, died Tuesday, June 3, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 3 p.m. Sunday in Macedonia Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Pantego, with Elder Donald Peartree officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Mrs. Banks was born in Beaufort County on Nov. 18, 1934. She was the daughter of the late Raymond and Cottie Boomer Murray. She was a graduate of the former Beaufort County High School in Pantego. She continued her education in child care at Temple Hospital School in Philadelphia, Pa. She was married to Alonzo Elliott, who preceded her in death in 1965. She later married Daniel Banks, who also preceded her in death. She was employed at Park Pleasant Nursing Home and retired as a house mother with the Salvation Army. While in Philadelphia, she was a member of Mt. Olive Church of Christ, where she served on the usher board. After moving back to Pantego, she rejoined Macedonia Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ).
Survivors include one goddaughter, Theresa B. Canady of Philadelphia, Pa.; and three sisters, Margaret Spencer and Jacqueline Harvey, both of Pantego, and Frederica Broomfield of Philadelphia, Pa.
The family will receive friends at the home.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
