Josephine Ross

Ms. Josephine Ross, age 84, a resident of 4342 Kelly Road, Bath, died Friday, June 27, 2008, at her home.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m., Monday, June 30, 2008, at St. Clair’s Church of Christ and will be conducted by Craig Hagen. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. Monte Morris, A. W. Cooke, Gerald Cooke, Larry Cooke, Tony McGowan and Michael Cooke will serve as pallbearers.
Ms. Josephine was born in Beaufort County on July 14, 1923, to the late Charlie Edward Ross and Narcissie Cutler Ross. Ms. Josephine was a 1940 graduate of Bath High School, retired after 23 years of service to her country in the United States Army and retired after 10 years of service as a rural mail carrier with the Bath post office.
She was past treasurer for St. Clair’s Church of Christ for many years and also the Bath Community Rescue Squad. She was an avid genealogist researching daily at the Beaufort County Courthouse until her death. She previously enjoyed bowling and in recent years woodworking, yard work, reading and her daily computer games at her sister Maggie’s home.
Survivors include one sister, Maggie Morris and husband, Bernard, of Bath; one brother-in-law, Ralph Dotson; one sister-in-law, Carol Ross and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by three sisters, Myrtle Dotson, Malvina McGowan and Alma Ross, and two brothers, Charlie “Gus” Ross and William J. “Bill” Ross.
The family will receive friends following the service at the church.
