Mrs. Victoria Brickhouse Cooper, 85, a resident of Columbia, died Saturday, June 28, 2008, at Chowan Hospital Skilled Nursing, Edenton.
A funeral will be held at 3 p.m. today at Sound Side Free Will Baptist Church with the Rev. Royce Reynolds officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Sound Side Free Will Baptist Church.
Born in Tyrrell County, Mrs. Cooper was the daughter of the late John S. and Isabell Rhodes Brickhouse. She married Chester M. Cooper Sr., who preceded her in death. She was a homemaker. She was a member of Sound Side Free Will Baptist Church, where she served as a Sunday school teacher and was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary and Adult Choir.
Survivors include three daughters, Joyce C. Cahoon and Vicky C. Cahoon, both of Columbia, and Brenda C. Cooper of Littleton; two sons, John A. Cooper of Plymouth and Donald W. Cooper of Columbia; a brother, Roy B. Wilson of East Point, Ga.; 21 grandchildren and 22 great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sons, Chester M. Cooper Sr. and William D. Cooper, and a sister, Sara M. Hassell.
Arrangements are by Maitland Funeral Home, Creswell.
