Mr. Hoover Dwight McCleese, 79, died Sunday, June 29, 2008, at Plumblee Nursing Home in Plymouth.
A funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday in Alligator Chapel Baptist Church with Elder Dean Satterfield officiating. Burial will follow in Community Cemetery, Columbia.
Mr. McCleese was born in Tyrrell County on May 18, 1929. He was the son of the late Dwight and Jestee Johnson McCleese. He was married to Alma Liverman McCleese, who survives. He had been a farmer.
Survivors include one son, Phil McCleese of Columbia; four daughters, Zula White, Bernice Brickhouse and Denise Skinner, all of Columbia, and Gloria Barco of Manteo; two sisters, Piccola Bryant of Columbia, and Zula Pemberton of New Jersey; two grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
