Mr. Jimmie Warren Brewer, Sr. age 75, a resident of 3435 Hwy. 264 E. Washington died peacefully after a brief illness at his Pamlico Beach Home Thursday, July 24, 2008.
Graveside services will be held 3 p.m. Sunday, July 27, 2008 at Oakdale Cemetery and will be conducted by Rev. Bill Mobley. Alford Wilkins, Curtis Wilkins, Junius Fulford, Michael Hopkins, Monte Hopkins and Howard Sawyer will serve as pallbearers.
Mr. Brewer was born in Pitt Co. on October 31, 1932 to the late Linwood and Genevieve Broadhurst Brewer. He was a graduate of Greenville High School, attended ECU and served in the United States Air Force. In 1981 he retired as an insurance adjuster with Great American Insurance Co. after 32 years of service. He then went on to work 10 years with his son Jimmie who is owner and operator of Warehouse Tire and Battery in Washington. On October 3, 1987 he married Mary Elizabeth Bunn who survives.
Survivors include Mary Bunn Brewer of the home, two sons, Jim Brewer and wife Audrey of Winterville, Todd Brewer and wife Jenee of Bethel, 3 step sons, Charles Harris and wife Donna of Greenville, Michael Perry and wife Julie of Belhaven, Bob Perry of Washington, two brothers, Frank L. Brewer and wife Linda of Greenville, Woody Brewer of Greenville, three sisters, Leytha B. Mobley and husband Bill of Washington, Linda B. Calvert of Winterville and Evelyn Blizzard of Greenville, seven grandchildren, Alexis Brewer, Madison Brewer, Cobie Brewer, Allison Perry, Jacob Perry, Tyler Harris, Ryan Harris and Mary Askew the mother of Jim Brewer, Todd Brewer, Charles Harris and also Randy Lee Harris who preceded Mr. Brewer in death. Mr. Brewer was preceded in death by one brother-in-law, Bill Blizzard.
The family will receive friends from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Saturday, July 26, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and other times at the home.
