Mary Chason McFadyen Oestreich, age 85, of Washington, N.C., passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2008 at Pitt County Memorial Hospital.
A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, August 5, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Oakdale Cemetery, Washington. The Rev. Danny Allen will officiate the service.
Mrs. Oestreich was born on June 6, 1923 in Robeson County, N.C. She was the loving daughter of the late Leonard and Stella McFadyen and widow of Roy H. Oestreich. Lovingly known as “Granny” by her family, she was an amazing woman. She had no limits for her capacity to love and to be loved by others. Her family was first and foremost in her heart and her love of life is a legacy to all.
She was preceded in death by her husband; her brother, Benjamin McFadyen; and grandson, David Oestreich.
Surviving are her sisters, Sarah Maxwell of Raeford, N.C. and Rebecca Cook of Tarpon Springs, Fla.; a son, James “Wayne” Oestreich, of Washington; three daughters, Judy Rethmeier of Winston-Salem, Pamela Anderson and Lynn Howard, both of Greenville; eight grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home of her son, Wayne Oestreich, 140 Summer Haven Lane, Washington, following the service at the graveside.
