Mr. Edison Pernell Weatherly, 79, of Columbia, died Friday, Aug. 8, 2008, at Pitt County Memorial Hospital in Greenville.
A memorial service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in Nazareth Church of Christ with Thomas Biggs and Jimmy Davenport officiating.
Mr. Weatherly was born in Tyrrell County, the son of the late Doss and Carrie Jones Weatherly. He was an Army veteran of the Korean conflict. He was married to Christine Ainsley Weatherly, who survives. He was a retired welder and pipe fitter with Weyerhaeuser Corp. He was a member of Nazareth Church of Christ.
Survivors include one daughter, Cindee Weatherly of Washington; one son, Ralph L. Weatherly of Columbia; one sister, Etta W. Ward of Columbia; four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Nattie W. Sawyer and two brothers, Max Weatherly and Calvin Weatherly.
The family will receive friends Sunday following the memorial service at Nazareth Church of Christ.
