Mr. Earnest Ray Simmons, 74, of 260 Harvey Hamlet, Washington, died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2008, at Beaufort County Hospital in Washington.
A funeral will be conducted at 2 p.m. Sunday in the chapel of Whitfield &Whitley Funeral Home, Washington, with the Rev. William Guilford officiating. Burial will follow in St. Luke Cemetery, Edward.
Mr. Simmons was born in Pamlico County on June 6, 1934. He was the son of the late Maggie Simmons Blango. He was a member of Deeper Life Ministries.
Survivors include three sisters, Helen Simmons of Washington, D.C., Carolyn York of Mason City, Iowa, and Alice F. Williams of Clinton, Md.; and four brothers, Elbert Blango and Leon Blango, both of Washington, D.C., and Elijah Blango and James R. Blango, both of Kinston.
A walk-in visitation will be held today from 1-7 p.m. at Whitfield &Whitley Funeral Home, Washington.
