Mrs. Vivian Elks Holloman, 76, a Grimesland resident, died Thursday, September 4, 2008.
Another rose was added to Heaven’s flower garden. Vivian Elks Holloman, a devoted wife, loving mother and absolute wonderful grandmother was the rose God selected. A rose without thorns will always be missed but reserved in our memories for eternity. She encouraged and offered a helping hand to anyone in need. She left this world only to blossom again in Heaven.
The funeral service will be conducted Sunday at 4 p.m. in the Wilkerson Funeral Chapel. Burial will follow in Pinewood Memorial Park.
Mrs. Holloman, a native of Pitt County, had lived most of her life in Grimesland and was a graduate of Grimesland High School. For 31 years, she was employed with Belk’s department store. She was a member of Proctor Memorial Christian Church, where she was active in various committees of the church.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Tommy Elks; a brother, Jerry Williams; and sister, Elsie Mills.
She is survived by her husband, J. T. Holloman; daughters, Sharon Elks Moore and husband, Snodie, of New Bern, and Pam Elks Milnes, of Grimesland; son, David Thomas Elks and wife, Lorie, of Grimesland; stepchildren, Mitchell Holloman and wife, Diane, of Grimesland, and Marianne Holloman, of Winterville; grandchildren, Brandon Moore, Samantha and Daniel Elks,and Michael and Ashley Milnes; stepgrandchildren, Leigh Byrum, Chris Hollman and Candace Beddard; stepgreat-grandchildren, Noah Wayne Baker, Aubrey Beddard and Cutler Holloman.
The family will receive friends Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at Wilkerson Funeral Home.
