Mr. Jerome “Jerry” Henry Maier, 77, of Red Oak, died Thursday, Sept. 11, 2008.
A visitation will be held today at Wheeler &Woodlief Funeral Home in Rocky Mount from 7-8:30 p.m. with a rosary being prayed at 8:30 p.m. A funeral Mass will be said at 11 a.m. Monday at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Burial will follow in Pineview Cemetery.
Mr. Maier was born in Pittsburgh, Pa., on Oct. 26, 1930. He was the son of the late Henry and Hilda Maier. He was a 1953 graduate of the University of Tampa. He served in the Air Force and became a fighter pilot in both the Korean and Vietnam wars. He was married to Mary Alice Maier, who survives.
Survivors include one daughter, Caroline Williamson of Lumberton; one grandchild and one godson, Zachary Leonard of Clayton.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hospice of Nash General Hospital or a charity of one’s choice.
