Mrs. Shirley Moore Wilkinson, age 71, a resident of 323 Isabella Ave. Washington, NC and formerly of Tarboro died Thursday September 18, 2008 at the Ridgewood Nursing Center of Washington.
A funeral service will be held 3 p.m. Sunday September 21, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington officiated by Rev. Danny Allen. Burial will follow in Oakdale Cemetery. Mike Boyd, Mitch Moore, Mark Moore, Russell Tyson, Frankie Langley and Delano Barrow will serve as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer will be M.S. “Buddy” Paramore.
Mrs. Wilkinson was born in Beaufort County on May 30, 1937 daughter of the late Edward Augustus Moore and the late Myrtle Hodges Moore. She was a 1955 graduate of Chocowinity High School and married Don L. Wilkinson, Sr. on July 14, 1958 who survives. Before retiring Mrs. Wilkinson worked as a substitute teacher in Tarboro and a realtor in real-estate in Washington. She was of the United Methodist faith.
Surviving along with Mrs. Wilkinson’s husband Don of the home are two sons: Don L. Wilkinson, Jr. and his wife Cynthia of Stokes and Gregory D. Wilkinson and his wife Wendy of Washington; a sister: Marie Moore of Arlington, VA; three grandchildren: Zachary Wilkinson, Megan Wilkinson and Nicholas Wilkinson and numerous nieces and nephews. Mrs. Wilkinson was preceded in death by three sisters: Mae Moore, Helen Chesson and Zelma Frowein and four brothers: John B. Moore, Don Moore, Durell Moore and Junius Moore.
The family will receive friends from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday September 20, 2008 at Paul Funeral Home of Washington and at other times at the home.
