Mrs. Carolyn Ayers Spruill, 74, of Plymouth died Wednesday, September 24, 2008 at her residence.
Born in Washington County, she was the daughter of the late Edward E. and Allison Owens Ayers and was preceded in death by her sisters, Virginia A. Spruill, Margaret A. Midyette and Edna A. Givler; brothers, Adrian Ayers, Phil Ayers and Carroll Ayers. Mrs. Spruill was a retired administrative assistant with Martin, Tyrrell, Washington Health Department and member of Plymouth United Methodist Church.
Her family includes her husband, Norwood L. Spruill of Plymouth, N.C.; daughter, Diane S. James and husband Ben Mark of Fuquay-Varina, N.C.; son, Stephen N. Spruill and wife, Catherine L. of Greenville, N.C.; sisters, Nick A. Swain of Plymouth, N.C. and Marie A. Hughes of Whiteville, N.C.; grandchildren, Amy L. Spruill, Justin L. Spruill, Cameron M. James and Caroline A. James.
Funeral service will be held Saturday, September 27, 2008 at 11 a.m. at Plymouth United Methodist Church, Plymouth with Dr. Jay Clark, Reverend Terry Williams and Reverend Tommy Midyette officiating. Burial will follow in Hillside Memorial Gardens. Family will receive friends on Friday, September 26, 2008 from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Maitland Memorial Chapel, Plymouth and other times at the residence. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Plymouth United Methodist Church. Arrangements are by Maitland Memorial Chapel, Plymouth.
