Newport News, VA — Isabelle Mizell Thompson died Monday, October 13, 2008 at The Gardens at Warwick Forest following a lengthy illness. She was born on April 17,1923 in Martin County, North Carolina.
She was preceded in death by her loving husband, William French Thompson; a son, William Irvin Thompson; her parents, Della and Jesse Mizell; sisters, Rachel Harrison and Mildred Little; and brothers, Jesse Mizell, E. D. Mizelle and Ralph Mizell.
Isabelle is survived by her daughter and her husband, Charlotte and Larry Hoskins; sons, Wade Edmund Thompson and Charles Reginald Thompson; grandchildren, L. Wayne Hoskins, Jr. and wife, Rebecca, and Stacey Hoskins McKeown and husband, Jason; six great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Faye Corey and Zylphia Bondeson.
She was a member of Menchville Baptist Church. Isabelle has served as a children’s Sunday School teacher, GA leader and an active member of the WMU and other women’s groups in several area Southern Baptist churches.
Visitation will be at 2 p.m. on Thursday, October 16, at W. J. Smith &Son Funeral Home, 210 Harpersville Road, Newport News, VA. A funeral service will follow at 3 p.m. with Rev. Jim Weston, Rev. Howard Bass and Dr. Thurman Hayes officiating. Interment will follow in Peninsula Memorial Park.
