Mr. Lenwood Whitaker, 82, of 684 Elm St., Belhaven, died Friday, Oct. 10, 2008, at home.
A memorial service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday in St. James Church of Christ (Disciples of Christ), Belhaven, with Elder Barry James officiating.
Mr. Whitaker was born in Hyde County on April 15, 1926. He was the son of the late Dicie Credle Whitaker and Johnnie Otto Whitaker. He attended the Hyde County Schools. He had been employed as a mechanic at a service station in Belhaven.
Survivors include two daughters, Wanda W. Wilkerson and Angela Lynn Whitaker; one son, Barry Whitaker; three sisters, Vernice Cooper, Emma Collins and Eunice Fair; two brothers, James Whitaker and George Whitaker.
He was preceded in death by three sons, one daughter, two sisters and two brothers.
The family will receive friends at the home of his daughter, Wanda Wilkerson, 32501 U.S. Highway 264 East, Belhaven.
Arrangements are by Randolph Funeral Home, 219 N. Bonner St., Washington.
